Part One: Set Your Educational Goals

 I would like to achieve my bachelors but also come of this program with a strong coding foundation in java. This is help me pursue my career goals.

Part Two: Set Your Career Goals

I would like to earn a Staff/T5 position at my current job. One of the largest obstacles that hold me back now is the lack of a degree. It makes me less competitive and is an easy disqualifier. Along with having a degree, becoming more proficient at coding will help align my skillset with the future needs of my job.

Part Three: Take a wild guess of your percentile of the ETS Computer Science test 

I'm going to say 70%

Part Four: Keep Up With Your Learning Journal

I spent a lot of time this week researching my ethics paper. I learned a lot about the history of the 'battle' between the Government and private companies over digital privacy. 

I also learned a about the types of claims one can use in an argument. This will be useful for the paper but also in looking at arguments I see from now on whether they be in person or online, TV or elsewhere.

    Jess, your goal to achieve a bachelor's degree and build a strong foundation in Java seems well-aligned with your career aspirations. The dual focus on academic achievement and practical skills should set you up for success. You set a very realistic expectation for the ETS Computer Science Test, and I have no doubt that you will exceed that benchmark.     Hi Jess, your blog entry outlines some clear personal and career goals. As a fellow peer in your cohort, I wish you luck in achieving success in you pursuit of a bachelor’s degree so that it may give you an edge in your workplace. If you seem confident that you’d get a 70 percent on the ETS CS test, I’d say you're already among some of the highest test takers and you're close to achieving great results.      This week in our course, we focused on memory virtualization and memory management. In our lab, we concentrated on FIFO (First-In-First-Out), a page replacement strategy that uses a queue to manage page entries.      In FIFO, pages are loaded into memory and placed in a queue. When a page needs to be replaced, the oldest page in the queue is evicted. This approach can lead to inefficient page replacement because even if a page has been recently used, it will still be evicted if it has been in memory the longest.      In contrast, LRU (Least Recently Used) tracks the usage history of pages. Relational database tables and spreadsheets look similar with both having rows and columns.  What are some important differences between the two?   Relational databases and spreadsheets might look similar because they both have rows and columns, but they are quite different in how they manage data. CST 334 Week 7

     This week, we covered topics including I/O devices, disk drives, files and directories, file systems, and RAIDs. RAID is a storage technology that combines multiple physical disks into one logical unit to enhance performance, data redundancy, or both. RAID 1, also known as mirroring, duplicates data across two or more disks, ensuring that if one disk fails, the data remains intact on the other. This provides high data reliability but requires twice the storage capacity. RAID 4, on the other hand, uses a dedicated disk for parity, with parity information calculated using XOR, and distributed across the array. This parity allows for data recovery in the event of a disk failure. While RAID 4 offers better storage efficiency than RAID 1, it may suffer from performance bottlenecks, as the parity calculations are handled by a single disk.
